Hi there! Thanks for visiting my blog. My name is Connor O’Malley. I love all aspects of the natural world and wilderness survival skills such as wildlife tracking, flint knapping, bow making, hide tanning, primitive living, foraging for wild foods, birding, fishing, hunting and more. I believe that we have evolved to live a certain way and when we live that way, we experience maximum health and happiness.
I’ve been very fortunate to learn about nature through some great organizations. I’m a graduate of the Kamana Naturalist Training Program (kamana.org), White Pine’s Tracking Apprenticeship (whitepineprograms.org), Hawk Circle Earth Skills Semesters (http://hawkcircle.com/about.htm) and I attended Tom Brown jr.’s Tracker School (trackerschool.com) and his camp for kids – Coyote Tracks (cotef.org) , when I was a teenager. I also have a degree in Natural Resources Management and Rangeland Ecology from Colorado State University and I’m certified Track and Sign Specialist in Wyoming, Southern California and New England through Cybertracker Conservation (cybertracker.org). I spent the summer of 2012 participating in Lynx Vilden’s Stone Age Project where a group of us lived for an entire month in a remote mountain wilderness using only primitive gear to survive. Learn more about Lynx and her programs here.
Previously I worked as the Assistant Director for Western Tracking Institute (westerntrackinginstitute.com) run by Barry Martin. I worked as a Tracker/Biologist for consulting projects and I helped teach tracking classes and survival workshops.
My last job was as an instructor for the wilderness certification program at Alderleaf Wilderness College (www.wildernesscollege.com) in Monroe, WA.
Currently I’m working for the Teton Cougar Project in Kelly, WY and considering different options for earning a masters degree in wildlife biology.
